Abu Dhabi Book Fair 2010

The Abu Dhabi Book Fair will return for its 20th edition — 2nd – 7th of March 2010 — and promises to continue strong programing with authors’ talks, publishing industry panel discussions and of course lots of books for sale from around the Arab world and international booksellers. The list of authors and translators attending the Abu Dhabi Book Fair is coming soon.

Friends of the Fair is a new program from the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair that seeks to create resources for book clubs in the UAE.  For more information, check out the ADIBF Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107990725949).  If you have another book group that wants to connect with the fair or to find out more, please contact Anna at +971 2 657 6183.

The ADIBF Friends of the Fair program seeks to provide:

  • Access to a database of active English and Arabic book clubs in the UAE that they can use to link up with other groups for intercultural dialogues, co-hosting of authors, to share reading lists, etc.
  • Suggested reading lists provided by KITAB of literature relevant to the region
  • Help in obtaining copies of books in a timely fashion and at an affordable price through KITAB’s partnership with Jashanmal bookstore
  • Administrative assistance with organizing meetings and recruiting membership
  • Help in contacting authors to invite them for meetings
  • Preferential access to guest authors at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair
  • Free entrance to a new “book club lounge” at the 2010 ADIBF, where clubs can hold meetings, advertise their activities, and recruit membership during public hours of the fair
